DRESS UP STOREBOUGHT CUPCAKES(Photo by Jessica Leigh Hester)
No time to bake? It just takes a few seconds to add some charm to grocery store goodies. The key to adding a Valentine's Day twist to everyday baked goods? A sweet homemade cupcake topper. Use a heart-shaped craft punch to cut two hearts out of patterned scrapbook paper. Then, cut a slit halfway up each heart: one going up from the bottom point towards the center, and one from the center going down towards the bottom point. To get the 3D effect, fit the two hearts together like puzzle pieces. Place a dab of hot glue on the back of one of the hearts, and attach a toothpick or small wooden skewer. (Pssst! You can also play up the Valentine's angle by opting for red velvet cake. Delicious and festive.)
