In a new interview with Sirius XM's Storme Warren, Jason Aldean revealed how his newborn son helped him cope with the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting, reports.
Aldean was the final performer of the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival when a gunman started shooting at concertgoers from a nearby hotel, killing 58 and injuring 489, making it the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
“One of the things that helped me, personally, was the birth of my son,” Aldean told the The Highway radio host. “That gave me a chance to focus on something else.”
, his first son, Memphis, was born a week before his due date on November 1, only eight weeks after Aldean performed in Las Vegas.
"Within a couple months, man, I saw the worst thing you can possibly experience and then I saw the best thing you can possibly experience with him being born," he said.
Memphis is his first child with his current wife, Brittany Kerr Aldean. He has two daughters from a previous marriage - 10-year-old Kendyl and 14-year-old Keeley.
Aldean announced today his new album, Rearview Town, is set to be released on April 13, . He also released a new single, "You Make It Easy.” He will soon be heading out to his High Noon Neon summer tour, starting in May.
"Just getting back out and doing what it is that we do, I mean, that to me is the only way to honor anybody," he said on Sirius XM.
