While accepting her Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album earlier this year, Reba McEntire said, "Our job in the entertainment business is to heal hearts." The sentiment has proven quite personal: Reba's music is exactly what helped the country star heal after her divorce from ex-husband Narvel Blackstock in 2015.
The singer and producer share a son, Shelby Blackstock, and were married 26 years before they split. As Reba has openly discussed, the breakup was not her idea.
"It was really hard to make the adjustment when someone's not happy," she said in an interview with last year. "I just want everybody to be happy in their lives, because our lives are too short to be miserable … I just thought it was the best thing to take my marbles and go play somewhere else, is what daddy used to always say."
Somewhere else turned out to mean someone else. This year's Academy of Country Music Awards host (63) has been dating boyfriend Anthony Lasuzzo for the past few months. According to , the two met in Jackson Hole, WY, in August, when Anthony, a businessman and photographer, played tour guide for Reba and her friends.
"I made another trip to Jackson Hole, because I just love it up there, and he asked me out for a date—just the two of us," she told the publication. "And we've been dating ever since."
Since then, Skeeter Lasuzzo, has been spotted on Reba's Instagram account.
Snapshots shared on social media this past winter show the couple hiking together and even posing with Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz backstage at Waitress on Broadway.
Reba and Skeeter celebrated their newfound love on Valentine's Day with a romantic dinner at a table for two, complete with candles and rose petals.
Last week, Reba posted a photo from a ski trip. And recently, the musician's new love interest has accompanied her on the red carpet as well.
"We've been having fun!" Reba, who's also up for an ACM Award for Female Vocalist of the Year, told ET at the Grammys. "We've been to three plays here in New York, just enjoying it tremendously. We like to have fun whether it's the mountains or New York City."
As for her one, Skeeter said, "I'm doing great! I'm just following her and enjoying the night with her."
Time will tell if Reba brings her boyfriend to the ACMs this weekend. The singer will also perform a duet with Kelly Clarkson, who just so happens to be married to Brandon Blackstock, son of Reba's ex.
Thankfully, the breakup hasn't affected Reba and Kelly's relationship.
"Kelly and I got to tour together in 2008, it was one of the most exciting, fun tours I've ever been a part of," Reba said on . "You know, I love her to pieces. She's been one of my best friends since I met her in 2002, now she's my daughter-in-law. She's a wonderful person, big-hearted, always full of joy and laughter."
The only problem Reba's anticipating? "It's going to be exciting if we don't crack each other up because we're double trouble," she told . "When we get onstage together, we kind of forget the audience is watching and we're having such a good time."
