reports on Friday’s episode of The View, Meghan tearfully discussed glioblastoma, the cancer that killed her father, with their guest, Bohemian Rhapsody star Joe Mazzello. “We have a very unique and dark connection,” she told him. Joe’s father also died from glioblastoma, a few months before Meghan’s father passed away.
After his death, Joe wrote an emotional post on Facebook remembering him and his legacy. “We lost my Dad yesterday to a glioblastoma brain tumor. That was quite enough suffering for my hero. Quite enough,” he wrote. “He did not deserve this monstrous disease. Nobody does. It was the closest thing to pure evil that I have ever seen. It took everything away from him.”
Meghan saw the post, and mentioned it on The View at the time. “That really gave me great comfort, and I think it was so beautiful,” she told him. “You talked about how it was a privilege to take care of our fathers in that state, and I just want to thank you.”
Joe told Meghan that once she mentioned his post, thousands of people sent him messages online to share their own stories and send him support. “I’m so glad that I brought you some comfort, but you brought me comfort,” he said. “That brought me so much comfort because there was such a sense of community there.”
On Monday, Meghan posted a photo of herself with her late father on Instagram. “I miss you so much Dad it physically hurts my heart,” she wrote.
