NCIS, our hearts can only take so much! Fans are still recovering after Pauley Perrette exited the CBS show last year, and now there are rumors that season 16 might hold another goodbye for a member of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
reported in October that a mid-season plot line could leave Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team in some serious hot water. According to the outlet, the Secretary of Defense is going to descend upon the Washington D.C.-based unit after the team unsurprisingly decides to break a few rules. And he’s not going to leave without someone’s head on the (hopefully metaphorical) chopping block.
That said, this plot line doesn’t necessarily hint at a character’s death, but more likely an untimely firing. also points out that these internal investigations don’t always lead to a role elimination, so we certainly can hope that our favorite team of agents will remain intact.
This isn’t the first time the members of an NCIS crew have been busted for breaking the law. The NCIS: Los Angeles cast is currently in the spotlight after Assistant Director Shay Mosley (Nia Long) put Agent Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and his fellow coworkers in jeopardy during an impromptu—and not exactly above-board—trip to Mexico that left one agent dead. Though the repercussions are still unfolding, it seems unlikely that everyone will walk away unscathed.
We’ll have to wait until the new episodes air on Tuesday nights to see just how far over the line the original show's agents will go. But with Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) increasingly suspicious behavior, and whispers of an angry boss on the loose, viewers are certainly in for a nail-biting finish to the season.
