London's Heathrow Airport just released its newest Christmas commercial and it's even more of a tearjerker than last year's.
Following tradition, the sentimental ad stars the world's most beloved stuffed animals, Doris and Edward Bair. It shows the furry grandparents in their Florida home as they struggle with celebrating Christmas in a place where it feels like anything but. The first scene opens with Edward soaking up some sun and Doris decorating the tree. A combination of stifling heat, unwanted guests, and a lonely display of gifts leaves them feeling disheartened, until they receive a video call from their loved ones overseas.
Across the pond, their family is shown celebrating a quintessential Christmas complete with a cozy fire, stockings hung with care, and smiling grandchildren. The moment the line goes dead, Doris and Edward know they need to make it home for the holidays.
Set to Paul Young’s classic hit, "Every Time You Go Away," the ad follows the Bairs as they rush themselves back towards the British twilight, arriving at the place that brings people together:
"The nation’s love for Doris and Edward is overwhelming and has been since we first met them in 2016. For many people, being close to the ones we love is what really makes Christmas special," Ross Baker, Heathrow's Chief Commercial Officer said in a statement. "This is why we see The Bairs return to their family from warmer climes, as many of Heathrow’s passengers make similar journeys home for the festive season."
Better keep your box of tissues handy, because the season of emotional Christmas commercials is just getting started. We're ready for you, John Lewis!
