Jamie Lee Curtis crushed it on the Golden Globes red carpet, and she did it without any help from Fiji Water, thank you very much.
Kelleth Cuthbert, a model now known as “Fiji Water Girl,” quickly became an internet sensation during the awards in January, when she was caught photobombing major celebrities as they arrived to the event. There’s one star, though, who was not amused to have been photographed with Kelleth.
Jamie Lee took to Instagram following Hollywood’s big night to call out that she had strategically avoided the young woman, but that her efforts had failed.
“I specifically moved away from the blatant promotions by Fiji and Moet where young women with their trays filled with their wares stood near a designated camera,” she said. “I knew why there was a photographer poised there and I moved away as I said out loud that I didn’t want to be doing advertising for either.” (For what it's worth, Kelleth reportedly earned Fiji an estimated $12 million in free advertising, according to )
Jamie Lee's husband, Christopher Guest, later pointed out a photo on CNN, which captured the pair together.
“Clearly this angle shows that I moved from her being behind me and yet from the side it still happens,” she wrote. “The sponsors of events need to get permission from people when they get them to take their picture next to products.”
Followers supported the 60-year-old actress in the comments, agreeing that it was “very disrespectful,” and “how rude.”
There’s one fan, though, that summed up our thoughts exactly. In response to the caption on CNN, which read, “Jamie Lee Curtis was in danger of being upstaged by the Fiji Water girl,” they wrote: “@curtisleejamie is in danger of being upstaged by NO ONE. Even Michael Myers takes a backseat okay.”
