In July, Kelly appeared in a new promo video for her show that showcased both her sense of humor and her impressive vocal chords. The newly released teaser features the singer and television personality "hitting all the high notes" as she prepares for the show's debut in September.
"I literally cannot wait to do this show," the singer said in another video for the program. "I'm so stoked. We have a few surprises up our sleeve for daytime. It's gonna be good. Or, it'll be what it's gonna be. You can like it or not!"
What is The Kelly Clarkson Show about?
Kelly's new project, which will be produced in Los Angeles, is set to be a combination of interviews and musical performances involving both celebrities and everyday people. The Instagram for The Kelly Clarkson Show promises the hour-long segment will be "full of celebs and people from all over with amazing stories, fun and games with the studio audience, and, of course, music."
In an interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Kelly opened up about what she hopes to accomplish with her new platform.
"I love communication and I feel like there's a lot of brokenness with that in the world right now and there's so much division," she explained. "So I do want my show to be just really inclusive and about connection."
The singer also told the audience at one of her tour stops how much she's looking forward to the new program.
"I have a TV show coming out and I'm pretty stoked about it. I'm super excited. I never thought I'd have a TV show but I really love talking and I love people, so I hope it goes well," she said. "It's gonna be musical. . .it’ll be a little music in it, every episode, and I'll be talking to people."
Has it started filming yet?
Kelly revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that she has already filmed the first episode for her new show!
"We did the pilot, and I was oddly comfortable," Kelly said. But she did admit that she needs practice when it comes to listening to the guests during interviews.
"I do need to learn, and I have literally been watching ... all of your episodes and Oprah's and everyone’s, because I’m like, 'How do I listen?' I was not good at listening," she said. "I just don’t shut up."
"I think I’m going to be really good at all the other things—just not that one," Kelly added. "But I like a challenge."
Ellen agreed that Kelly would excel at her new project. "That's why I thought you'd be a great talk show host—you are very natural, very comfortable," she said.
Who will be guests on the show?
According to Kelly, she is looking for guests who "are going to come on the show and be themselves."
"I just want people that are real and are okay with connecting with me and are not afraid to say what they really feel," she explained on Instagram. "So I'm [going to] push y'all."
"My father had just passed away, and literally nobody on set knew except for my husband. So I had to do this whole interview about, you know, struggles with [Chrissy's] dad—we have very similar things—so my very first interview for my talk show was the hardest thing I will ever do."
Will Kelly Clarkson sing on her new show?
Fans of the country singer's vocals are not going to want to miss the beginning of Kelly's segments.
"Each show we lead with music," she told Ellen. "I just come down singing." The artist further explained that she will only perform for around a minute, and won't be singing her own songs—because she wants to "lift up other artists" by covering their music.
When does it premiere?
The Kelly Clarkson Show will make its television debut on Monday, September 9, according to the website. Kelly also promoted it on Instagram with a two-month countdown to the first episode.
What channel is The Kelly Clarkson Show on?
The Kelly Clarkson Show will be on NBC (the same network where Kelly already appears on The Voice).
What time will it be on TV?
The hour-long slot will air at 2 p.m. ET, right before Ellen Degeneres's show at 3.
Earlier this year, TV host Steve Harvey suggested Kelly could be replacing his slot on NBC and singled her out as the reason he might need to find a new home on a different network. Those rumors were finally confirmed in May when his daytime talk show was cancelled after seven years with NBC, according to Variety.
Reruns of Steve's show will air through September, at which point The Kelly Clarkson Show will move into the slot.
Where will Kelly Clarkson live?
In pursuit of her talk show career, Kelly and her family put their Tennessee home on the market and moved to California permanently. Hoda and Jenna asked the singer how she felt about "packing up, going to L.A., and taking the kids" and Kelly admitted she was nervous.
"It scares my husband and I because we're both Texan and we both really love the outdoors," she said. "We're just more like mountain people. But it'll be good."
Despite her reservations, Kelly says she feels very "blessed" about their new home.
"Actually, Adam Levine found our house. He's like a real estate guru," she revealed. "It's the most amazing house I've ever lived in."
