Dolly Parton clearly won the 2019 Grammy Awards red carpet last night, but there was one sentimental nod hidden in her glittering gown that few fans caught.
The legendary country singer donned a bedazzled red dress with silver details and a gemstone-embellished neckline when arriving to music’s biggest night. The sparkling ensemble was certainly stunning, but it was the 73-year-old's high heels that were the most important detail of her statement look.
“Red carpet, red dress, red shoes!” she captioned . The clever comment referenced which she wrote for the Netflix movie, Dumplin’, starring Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald.
She later changed for her dazzling tribute performance, which included appearances from her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, along with Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, and Katy Perry. Dolly wore a glitzy white number for her big moment on stage, but kept the red heels intact—which worked perfectly, since she sang the original tune during the show!
Dolly shared an up-close angle of her open-toed sandals on Instagram stories, along with a clip of the song to make sure everyone knew she was paying homage to her latest project. The photo also gave a peek at the details on her second dress, and we need some sunglasses because that thing seriously sparkles.
Though none of us could ever pull off an over-the-top getup quite as well as Dolly, we can buy a pair of tall red shoes of our own and emulate her iconic attitude. After all, as the song promises, they’ll “build your confidence” with each wear!
