She said... ouch!? The Voice fans have seen plenty of memorable moments in the past 16 seasons, but this was a first: After his Blind Audition, contestant Denton Arnell brought his girlfriend on stage with the hopes of proposing—but things didn't quite go according to plan.
Denton sang a soulful rendition of . The performance convinced John Legend to turn his chair and happily greet the new member. "Denton, welcome to Team Legend!" the proclaimed. "I think you were really creative with the melody and made it your own."
After thanking John for the praise, the 31-year-old asked the panel: "Is it okay if I share this moment with my girlfriend? Can she come up?" as his other half, who introduced herself as Tiffany, joined the singer on stage.
"So being that you gave me a 'yes,'" he began, as he pointed at his new coach. "I wanted to see if Tiffany would give me a 'yes.'" He then stunned the crowd by pulling out a ring box.
Just as Denton began to kneel, a (very) shocked Tiffany also leaned forward—and the two literally butted heads! The blunder had Blake Shelton covering his face, Kelly Clarkson slapping her chair, and just about everyone in the audience and at home cracking up.
Taking to Twitter, one person asked, ""Did anyone else yell, 'Ouch!' when @DentonArnell bonked heads with his girlfriend?" Another person cheekily added, "A proposal isn’t complete unless there’s a little head butting." Someone else got in on the fun, and joked, "So glad Tiffany said yes. Now they're both headed to concussion protocol!"
The love birds were able to make a quick recovery, as Tiffany said yes and Denton slid the ring on her finger. How sweet! Maybe the amusing moment will inspire Blake to pop the question to his girlfriend, and former Voice coach, Gwen Stefani on the singing competition!? We can only dream!
