- Lori Loughlin was removed from upcoming Hallmark projects in March, following her alleged involvement in a massive college scandal.
- Her show, When Calls the Heart, has been on hiatus while the network decides how to proceed without her.
- Actress Pascale Hutton about the series since the news broke.
When Calls the Heart has been captivating audiences since its premiere in 2014. The fan base is so devoted, in fact, that they’ve even nicknamed themselves the “Hearties.” So you can imagine the disappointment viewers had when they heard the Hallmark show was going on a “hiatus” in the wake of the Lori Loughlin college scandal.
Lori, who plays Abigail Stanton on the show, and her husband Mossimo Giannulli, are reportedly facing felony charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in order to get their two daughters, Bella, 20, and Olivia, 19, into USC. After the news hit, Hallmark dropped the actress from any upcoming projects, and pressed pause on season six of WCTH so they could decide how to address Lori’s character.
Lori’s castmates have kept mostly quiet about the scandal. Fellow Hallmark and Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure seemingly supported Lori during a very public speech, while WCTH actors like Paul Greene and Andrea Brooks thanked Hearties for their “support through this tough spot.”
Now, another major member of the WCTH family is speaking out. In April, Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary LeVeaux-Coulter on the period drama, shared a photo of herself laughing with Kavan Smith, AKA Leland Coulter.
“Thank you #hearties for your support and love and mostly your PATIENCE,” she wrote. “I promise we will be back on the air and in your homes soon.”
Her followers were relieved to see Pascale posting again, and were thrilled to have some sort of update about the series. One commenter called out, “You are all so missed! Even Instagram is so quiet! Sending love to the entire cast.” Another said, “FINALLY!!! Hallmark hasn’t give us an update in WEEKS!!” Even Holly Robinson Peete had something to say that summed up most people’s thoughts perfectly: “🙏🏽❤️”
Though it’s still unclear when we’re going to see WCTH’s return to TV, we can only hope it’s soon. In the meantime, we’ll be going over our theories as to who might replace Lori…
