The wildly outrageous Fox show premiered last year, and people were obsessed with discovering the celebrities behind the over-the-top costumes like the Lion and the Peacock. Now, the mystery competition series is back at it with some new bedazzled faces, and you’ll need to watch these sneak peek videos 5-10 times to fully grasp everything that’s happening.
On the very real chance that you did not catch every character that was dropped in the trailers above and below, don’t worry: We're keeping a running list for you. And because passionate TV viewers such as ourselves can’t fathom waiting until September to start guessing, we’ve also included some of the popular fan theories that are already circulating on the internet. Take a look at The Masked Singer season 2 cast so far.
Shown in the opening credits belting out "The Greatest Showman," the Egg is easily the most talked-about persona so far. Commenters on YouTube have already thrown out Brendon Urie, Shawn Mendes, and Neil Patrick Harris as possible options. (Sorry, but it’s SO OBVIOUSLY NPH!)
Ah, the slyest of them all! No one has any idea who this cunning creature is at the moment, but we’re willing to bet he/she has some tricks up their sleeve.
The beautiful bird is already suspected of being singer Dua Lipa, though the reasonings are unclear. Considering the show has super-high security in place, we’re not quite convinced of this one just yet.
To be honest, we’re still trying to decipher which of the jungle cats is appearing on stage, but we do know we’re very into its feisty outfit.
According to , the Skeleton is meant to appeal to kids and adults. “I wanted to create something that wasn’t scary,” said the costume designer, Marina Toybina. One YouTube user hopes Gael Garcia Bernal of Coco is behind this mask.
The Eagle is looking as regal as ever, and we’re excited to see what surprises the winged animal has in store. We do know one thing: Whoever’s inside can definitely see better this time around, thanks to the changes Marina made to the masks. “We want them to be more playful on stage, like a little party,” she said.
The Butterfly is definitely one of the more intricate getups, and it was apparently inspired by runway fashion (is that a hint!?). “We wanted it to be very mythical and magical,” she explained.
We’re still waiting on the rest of the cast members to be announced, and until then we’ll just sift through the rest of the ideas we have in mind for this fall’s celeb identities. Chris Pratt, Toni Braxton, and another member of *NSYNC seem to be at the top of most people’s wish lists. But we want to know: Who do you hope will appear this season? Let us know in the comments!
