Though the old adage "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all," still rings true, it seems like many don't live by that policy anymore. While no one can force a person to practice good manners, they can clap back—and HGTV's Good Bones stars Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen E. Laine found the perfect way to do just that.
In their "Mean Comment Monday" video series, which they started on their , the mother and daughter read through the obnoxious comments people leave on their social media channels and provide some cheeky commentary. It's enough to make any well-mannered person want to give these witty women a high five.
The duo decided it was time to have some fun with their followers after they saw Jimmy Kimmel launch a similar series on his late-night show. "One of my favorite things is Jimmy Kimmel's 'Mean Tweets,'" Mina said. "It makes light of all the people who aren't very friendly, so we're doing our own version of celebrity mean tweets with 'Mean Comment Monday.' It will just motivate everyone to hopefully be a little bit nicer."
Recently, Ikaroo.info asked the ladies to read a few more. At the top of the page, you'll see them talk back to those who criticize the way they talk, dress, their so-called lack of talent, and more ridiculous claims.
"She held the wrong tool for what she was trying to accomplish," wrote one commenter. "The show is fake!"
"All TV is fake," Mina quipped, and her mom added, "That's how we can rehab a house in 40 minutes."
"No, our show is definitely as real as it gets," Mina continued. "But yeah, we probably were holding the wrong tool," laughing.
Since they started the series in 2017, they've done several episodes, all of which are pretty entertaining.
Not only do we love seeing these sassy gals stick it to 'em, but we also love the sweet and positive comments people leave on the videos. "These MCM clips make me love you gals even more," one commenter wrote. We couldn't agree more!
