NCIS, CBS's long-running procedural, is entering its seventeenth season this fall. Its success has inspired two spin-offs—NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans—and the crime drama consistently tops the ratings for scripted shows.

The series made headlines in 2017 when leading lady Pauley Perrette announced her exit after 15 years. Fans were devastated to see her character, Abby, go, and news of her replacement elicited mixed reactions. Ahead of NCIS's seventeenth season, there's even more cast drama—but this time, it's about one character's shocking return. Ziva, played by actress Cote de Pablo, surprised everyone when she appeared during last season's finale. Her comeback has inspired plenty of fan theories, but everyone has one question on their minds: Is Ziva back on NCIS for good? Only time will tell!

Here's everything you need to know about the new and returning cast of NCIS.
