Next time you're getting rid of old furniture, think twice about what you do with it. There are plenty of four-legged friends who would love to snooze on your worn out chair.
A no-kill shelter in Illinois asked community members for armchair donations last week with a video so adorable, you'll want to give up your seat right now. The shared lounging on their donated furniture, and it quickly went viral.
“The shelter pets absolutely love their chairs! If anyone has any older chairs they no longer want, please think of the shelter pets!” the shelter wrote.
Just a few days later, they after donations came pouring in.
“We have had so many chairs donated this morning," they wrote in the Facebook post. "The shelter pets send many licks and purrs of thanks!!”
The facility houses about 50 cats and 50 dogs at a time, and relies heavily on donations to support their animals.
The volunteer executive director of the Knox County Humane Society, Erin Buckmaster, was surprised by the response to the video.
"We never dreamed it would take off like this," . "I really just wanted the dogs to feel more comfortable while staying at the shelter."
Now, Buckmaster hopes that “every dog in every shelter is going to get a chair.”
